DEVELOPMENT OF GUANIDINE-BASED ANTIFOULING NANOFILTRATION MEMBRANE BY LAYER BY LAYER TECHNIKE

Commercially available polysulfone ultrafiltration membranes were modified “layer by layer” to produce nanofiltration biofouling resistant membranes. The polyelectrolyte complex was obtained through deposition of alternating polyanion (polystyrenesulfonate) layers and polycation (biocide polymers – polyhexamethylenebiguanidine and polyhexamethyleneguanidine) layers. Membrane modification was proven through IR-sprectrometry and zeta-potential measurements. Antibacterial and transport properties of modified membranes were studied.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES RESULTS OF WASTEWATER TREATMENT FROM NITROGEN COMPOUNDS TECHNOLOGY USING IMMOBILIZED MICROORGANISMS

Anaerobic-aerobic wastewater treatment technology by nitrogen compounds are proposed and investigated. In it provides use of immobilized on a nylon fibrous support of microorganisms and provides a high cleaning effect of ammonium nitrogen – 96-98,6%, the concentration of nitrate and nitrite in the treated water is in accordance with discharge into natural water. As a result produced a small amount of sewage sludge – 0.2-0.4 g/(m3∙d) with high mineral part – 38-48%.

CALCULATION OF MASS TRANSFER PROSES IN THE VERTICAL SEDIMENTATION TANK

The 2D numerical model was developed and used to simulate the pollutant transfer in the vertical settler. The model is based on the numerical integration of the K-gradient transport model and the model of the potential flow. The results of numerical experiment are presented.

MASS TRANSFER IN FILTERS WITH HETEROGENEOUS MEDIA

The analysis of hygienic, medical and ecological aspects of chlorine used as water disinfectant is given in the work presented. A comparative estimation of risks at the use of contaminated by pathogenic microorganisms water and the same water containing chlorination by-products  proves that epidemic safety should predominate at disinfection.

ANALYSIS OF STATICS AND DYNAMICS OF ION EXCHANGE OF DIFFERENT CHARGE

The mathematical models of statics and dynamics of exchange of double-charged to singly charged ions and methods of their solution in Excel (statics process) and Mathcad (statics and dynamics of exchange) are proposed. Equation of the initial distribution of concentration along the filter is based. A computer experiment has been carried out showing the features of ion exchange of different charges. The method of characteristic for the analysis of wave propagation of double-charged ions concentrations in the filter was adapted. The formation of “breakage” front of concentrations occurring in the case of convex isotherms of ion exchange, depending on the size of the constants of ion exchange, was shown. The proposed model provides varying technological and design parameters as input data in order to understand their effect on the performance of the exchange process.

APPLYING OF THE DESTRUCTION METHODS OF ACTIVATED SLUDGE IN BIOCHEMICAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT

In order to intensify the process of biochemical treatment of wastewater destruction method of activated sludge is being used. Good results are shown in experimental research on increasing the purification efficiency, which apply destructive biomass in aerobic and anaerobic conditions. The article examined the influence of chemical and mechanical disintegration thermolysis process for sludge treatment and analyzed the possibility of using these methods for biogas.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND SANITARY QUALITATIVE ASSESSMENT OF MANUFACTURING WASTE WATERS AND OPEN RESERVOIRS IN INDUSTRIAL TOWN WITH USING BIOTESTING METHOD

Sanitary and environmental assessment with using biotesting method (with daphnids) of manufacturing waste waters of large metallurgical enterprise’s quantity and waters taken in open reservoirs were done.

According to investigation’s findings the critical lethal toxicity (the percent of died daphnids was 100%) has only waste waters of slag gantry shops which contains a high concentration of hydrogen sulfide and sulphide.

Monitoring and water protection recommendations were developed.

EXPERIENCE OF BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT METHOD USING IN MULTICOMPONENT GROUNDWATER

By the example of the reconstruction of the Uzyn water supply system treatment facilities it is given the grounds for biological factors use in water treatment systems for deferrization and removal of  excessive nitrogen and silicon compounds from groundwater. It is shown the feasibility field for the use of biological systems of deferrization depending on pH, Eh, rH.

PHYSICO-CHEMICAL THEORY OF THE COAGULATION WATER TREATMENT. THE INFLUENCE OF VARIOUS FACTORS ON THE PROCESS (REPORT 2)

From the standpoint of a new physical-chemical water treatment coagulation theory, proposed by the author, the theoretical basis of the hydrolysis of coagulants and coagulation process of pollutants of natural waters to produce potable water condition.

The influence of temperature, pH, ionic composition, mixing, additives and opacifiers flocculants on the process of coagulation. Analyzed the different ways of feeding coagulants to purify water. Particular attention is paid to the contact coagulation, which allows to intensify the process of drinking water, reducing reagent consumption and improve the quality of treated water.
