EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES RESULTS OF WASTEWATER TREATMENT FROM NITROGEN COMPOUNDS TECHNOLOGY USING IMMOBILIZED MICROORGANISMS

Anaerobic-aerobic wastewater treatment technology by nitrogen compounds are proposed and investigated. In it provides use of immobilized on a nylon fibrous support of microorganisms and provides a high cleaning effect of ammonium nitrogen – 96-98,6%, the concentration of nitrate and nitrite in the treated water is in accordance with discharge into natural water. As a result produced a small amount of sewage sludge – 0.2-0.4 g/(m3∙d) with high mineral part – 38-48%.

A comparative study of the sorption properties of commercially available and experimental hybrid sorbents with respect to dissolved arsenite and arsenate ions has been caried out in the present work.

It has been ascertained that the main factor influencing the sorption capacity with respect to arsenic is the iron content in the sorbent phase. Hybrid sorbents based on waste anion exchange resin and iron compounds acquire ability to remove both valence forms of arsenic from water.

The results shown that degree of water purification with hybrid sorbents corresponds to the degree of purification with commercially available materials. At the same time economic performance of the hybrid sorbents is 2-2.5 times higher than the industrial materials.

ROLE OF pH AND SALT CONTENT OF WATER ON IT TREATMENT FROM MANGANESE COMPOUNDS ON SORBENT-CATALYST

The method of natural water treatment from manganese compounds on synthesized from manganese ore sorbent-catalyst was proposed. Salt content of sodium chlorides on efficiency of sorbent-catalyst in static conditions was explored. Salt content and pH value solution influence on residual concentration of manganese compounds in treated water was determined. The equation which describes the influence of those factors was obtained. The water treatment with high salt content ought to carry out with high pH value available to potable water.

HYGIENIC, MEDICAL AND ECOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF USE OF CHLORINE DIOXIDE AS WATER DISINFECTANT (THE MONOGRAPHY ANNOUNCEMENT)

The analysis of hygienic, medical and ecological aspects of chlorine dioxide used as water disinfectant is given in the work presented. Chlorine dioxide provides an epidemic safety of drinking water due to a high viricidal, bactericidal and mycocidal effectiveness and CDO is not toxic either in the context of the influence on the laboratory animals organisms or concerning hydrobionts when dumping disinfected waste waters is shown.

DEACTIVATION OF BIOCIDES IN INDUSTRIAL WATER TREATMENT

Industrial biocides are used for microbial control in a variety of industrial water systems including, cooling, paper, oilfield, and membrane applications. Biocide treatment programs are typically designed to provide optimal results based on environmental conditions, regulatory needs, efficacy, and cost. An important area of concern relating to biocide use is discharge of the treated effluent (ex., blowdown) into waste treatment systems or natural waters. Regulatory requirements also impact the amount of biocide that may be released. In many cases, the biocide must be effectively deactivated or neutralized prior to discharge of the effluent. This paper will provide a review of the specific methods for deactivating the various oxidizing and non-oxidizing biocides commonly used today. Examples of lab and field data will be presented.

DEVELOPMENT OF GUANIDINE-BASED ANTIFOULING NANOFILTRATION MEMBRANE BY LAYER BY LAYER TECHNIKE

Commercially available polysulfone ultrafiltration membranes were modified “layer by layer” to produce nanofiltration biofouling resistant membranes. The polyelectrolyte complex was obtained through deposition of alternating polyanion (polystyrenesulfonate) layers and polycation (biocide polymers – polyhexamethylenebiguanidine and polyhexamethyleneguanidine) layers. Membrane modification was proven through IR-sprectrometry and zeta-potential measurements. Antibacterial and transport properties of modified membranes were studied.

CALCULATION OF MASS TRANSFER PROSES IN THE VERTICAL SEDIMENTATION TANK

The 2D numerical model was developed and used to simulate the pollutant transfer in the vertical settler. The model is based on the numerical integration of the K-gradient transport model and the model of the potential flow. The results of numerical experiment are presented.

The analysis of hygienic, medical and ecological aspects of chlorine used as water disinfectant is given in the work presented. A comparative estimation of risks at the use of contaminated by pathogenic microorganisms water and the same water containing chlorination by-products  proves that epidemic safety should predominate at disinfection.
